Just like the world the church is made up of real people with real problems. The big difference is that not only is the church made up of real people, with real problems, but with real promise because of the life changing power of Christ. 1 Corinthians gives the reader an untouched look at the church, with all of its blemishes and shortcomings, and God's call for them to live according to his wisdom rather than behaving like the world. Today the church faces the same challenges and would be wise to listen to Paul's advice to the church at Corinth on how to be in the world but not of the world.
